We\u2019ll look at how the bow is used in a fiddle tune to propel the rhythm and how the left hand slides and uses double stops to make the tune sound\u00a0fiddle-y!\u00a0We will also look at how to back up the tune rhythmically.\u00a0<\/p>\n\t<h3>Music<\/h3>\n<p>Here are the music handouts from Alisa:<\/p>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/workshops\/WheelHoss.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" role=\"button\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWheel Hoss\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/workshops\/BigSandyRiver.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" role=\"button\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBig Sandy River\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/workshops\/HopHighLadies.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" role=\"button\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tHop High Ladies\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/amateurmusic.org\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Alisa-3-SM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"151\" height=\"150\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Violinist, improviser, and composer\u00a0<strong>Alisa\u00a0Rose<\/strong> pursues music across many genres.\u00a0 Currently she is a member of the RossoRose Duo and Scroggins &amp; Rose.\u00a0\u00a0Alisa\u00a0performed and taught throughout Eastern Europe as an Ambassador of the State Department with the Real Vocal String Quartet, and has performed at Carnegie Hall, on NPR&#8217;s Weekend Edition, at TEDx Alcatraz with Bob Weir, as well as numerous international tours.\u00a0\u00a0Alisa\u00a0appeared with the bluegrass band 49 Special at the Rockygrass Festival where they took first prize in the band competition in 2008.\u00a0From 2008 to 2012\u00a0Alisa\u00a0performed with and arranged pieces for Quartet San Francisco; their record\u00a0<em>QSF Plays Brubek\u00a0<\/em>was nominated for a Grammy in 2009.\u00a0 In 2015\u00a0Alisa\u00a0premiered Richard Marriott&#8217;s Concerto with Dartmouth Wind Ensemble released an album of her cross-genre virtuoso works for solo violin entitled Fiddle Caprices and Pizzicato Pieces.\u00a0 Recently the RossoRose Duo premiered her &#8220;Piano Trio for Luisa&#8221; \u00a0and \u201cNocturne for America\u201d as part of the Trinity Arts Chamber Music Festival.\u00a0\u00a0Alisa\u00a0teaches privately as well as in the pre-college division of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she received her B.M. and \u00a0M.M. \u00a0in Chamber Music studying with Camilla Wicks and Bettina Mussumeli.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>with Alisa Rose October 22, 2018 Drew School, San Francisco In this course we\u2019ll learn a classic bluegrass fiddle tune by ear.
