About the Mentor

Clarinetist Jerome Simas joined the San Francisco Symphony in 2012, is professor of clarinet and chamber music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a coach for the SFS Youth Orchestra. He has held principal clarinet positions in orchestras throughout the greater Bay Area and is solo clarinetist with the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble. He received degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, attended the Marlboro Music and Tanglewood music festivals, and won first prize at the International Clarinet Society Young Artist Competition and grand prize winner at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
