Be a part of Nebula Consort’s inaugural concert at San Francisco’s iconic Mission Dolores Basilica. You’ll sing Bach’s beloved Jesus Bleibet Meine Freude (Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring) and William Byrd’s Non Nobis Domine as leaders of an audience sing-along in the tradition of Bach’s own congregations.

Who should attend?

Everyone! Join in singing one of Bach’s masterworks as part of Nebula Consort’s inaugural concert. You will attend a brief pre-concert rehearsal led by Music Director Eric Choate.
All voices (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) are welcome! If you aren’t sure which section your voice fits into, we’ll help you decide!

Is there a cost?

General admission for this concert is $35. As a member of the audience chorus you will be seated in a special section and will be leaders of the general sing-along portion of the concert.

Pay what you can! We appreciate your payment of the suggested price when possible.

How do I attend?

Come to Mission Dolores Basilica in San Francisco, Dolores and 16th Streets (the 22 Fillmore bus stops right there).

About the Mentor

Eric Choate is in demand internationally as a choral and orchestral conductor, composer, and organist. Recent engagements include his Carnegie Hall debut conducting Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem with the New England Symphonic Ensemble and a festival chorus. 2025-2026 highlights include serving as interim Chorus Master at the Marin Symphony, the SFCM Conservatory Chorus, and the inaugural season of Nebula Consort. Recent engagements include the San Francisco Boys Chorus, Göteborgs Symfoniska Kör & Vokalensemble (Sweden), Merced Symphony, San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Festival Napa Valley, Berkeley Symphony Chorus, and the Berkeley Community Chorus & Orchestra. He is founding artistic director of Nebula Consort, a professional chorus for emerging early-career singers.

Eric is professor of Choral and Organ music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and serves as Director of Music at The Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin.

Eric earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theory and Composition from St. Olaf College. He was awarded a fellowship to study harmony and counterpoint at the European American Musical Alliance in Paris. He holds a Master of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studied with David Conte.
