The call of the horn, the gallop and chase—Mozart’s string quartet K458 brings to mind the the sounds of the hunt, and it’s no surprise that that’s how the quartet is known. Composed in B-flat, the key of the hunting horn, this quartet from 1784 is emblematic of the sensibilities of the period but also centers Mozart’s unique musical joy.
Join the New Esterházy Quartet for a 4-hour intensive workshop that will draw on their deep affinity for the classical era. You’ll go on a deep dive into the first movement and the finale of this great piece to discover how period-instrument performance has brought illuminating new sensibilities to music you thought you already knew and now can get to know even better.
